Princes and Princesses /
Princes et Princesses (G)

by Michel Ocelot

Welcome to the shadow theatre of animator Michel Ocelot! The French filmmaker achieved international acclaim in 1999 with Kirikou and The Sorceress (a wonderful adaptation of an African folktale) is back with another magical film.

This time, with Princes and Princesses Ocelot has taken the same kind of simple but entrancing narrative that made Kirikou a hit with all ages, and created a visually dazzling work of six stories from around the world.

In this imaginative film of silhouette animation, a girl and a boy stage fantastic shows in an old derelict theatre with the help of a technician. They transform themselves into the hero and heroine of six short tales, travelling between the ancient past and the distant future to all corners of the globe. Princes and Princesses presents a world of elegant and enchanted silhouettes that dazzles its viewers - both young and old - with the beauty of Ancient Egypt, the refinement of Japanese art, the romance of the Middle Ages and the wonder of the year 3000. It is delightful, inventive and captivating entertainment for younger viewers.
